The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology provides students with a comprehensive foundation in the discipline of kinesiology, a foundation that includes core courses in health, nutrition, physical conditioning, motor learning, and exercise physiology. It also offers students the opportunity to pursue a concentration in one of three more specialized areas, each of which is described below:
Health and Physical Education
The Health and Physical Education concentration is designed for students interested in becoming state-certified K-12 Health and Physical Education teachers or coaches.
Sports Management and Administration
The Sports Management and Administration concentration is designed for students who wish to develop the management and leadership skills necessary for the development and operation of sports organizations and athletic programs.
Health and Fitness Studies
The Health and Fitness Studies concentration is designed for students who wish to acquire a knowledge of the science behind physical fitness and develop the skills necessary for implementing effective fitness programs.
Student Learning Outcomes
All graduates of the proposed program will be expected to meet the following learning outcomes:

have acquired a comprehensive understanding of the general principles of health and fitness;

have acquired an understanding of the scientific principles that govern the effects of physical activity on the human body;

have acquired the knowledge and skills needed to assess human performance-related characteristics of individuals from diverse populations;

have acquired a comprehensive knowledge of the behavioral and cultural factors that influence the adoption and maintenance of a physically active lifestyle;

have acquired the knowledge needed to design and implement exercise programs for both healthy individuals and those suffering from chronic disease or disability;

have acquired the skills needed to access and conduct professional research in the field of kinesiology.
Admission Requirements
Students must meet all requirements for admission to the university. There are no special admission requirements for students pursing either the Sports Management and Administration concentration or the Health and Fitness Studies concentration. Students pursuing the Health and Physical Education concentration must be admitted to the Professional Teacher Education Program before they can take required upper-level EDCI courses.
Degree Requirements

Students must complete all of the requirements pertaining to baccalaureate degrees as specified in Degree Requirements.

Students must take at least 45 hours at the 3000-level or above and at least 15 hours at the 4000-level.

Students are required to make a grade of “C” or higher in each course applied toward Core and Concentration Requirements.
